Used By Athletes
When you exercise and challenge your muscles with a tough workout, proteins and hormones flow into your muscle fibers to repair them, making you stronger.
When athletes use cryotherapy after exercise, the exposure to extreme cold helps to rapidly reduce inflammation, alleviate muscle soreness, and boost circulation. These effects can significantly enhance recovery, improve performance, and lower the risk of injury—making cryotherapy a favorite among elite athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike.
Cryotherapy FAQs
How Long?
It depends, but sessions last up to 3 minutes. Some individuals may tolerate less time as they develop more exposure and tolerance. And as your body becomes more adapted over time, session length may increase or temperatures may decrease to enhance the experience.
How Frequent?
2-4 sessions per week is the sweet spot. This is a good, solid, and sustainable protocol to derive the maximum benefits.
How Cold?
The general rule of thumb is “uncomfortably cold yet safe,” and this varies for each individual. Our cryotherapy chamber temps are maintained at -165 °F.
Day or Night?
Cold exposure wakes you up since your body temperature rises after cryotherapy. It's best to do it in the morning or during the day. While it's okay to do it at night, it might disrupt your sleep if done too close to bedtime.
Andrew Huberman, “X”, neuroscientist and founder of Huberman Lab
“The psychological impact of deliberate cold exposure protocols such as cryotherapy and cold showers are undeniable, both for those that do them and love them (and/or the feeling afterwards) and for those that loathe and/or fear them and avoid them altogether.”
